The Madison Brass Works building has been an industrial fixture in our neighborhood for generations. This June, the raw industrial power of the Madison Brass Works building will be the backdrop for Forge, an art exhibition and event designed to celebrate that history as it is poised to be transformed by its new owner, the Goodman Community Center. Goodman’s plans will mix the old with new, repurposing and renovating the oldest section of the building that facesWaubesa Street, and replacing the more mundane sections with new construction. Forge will be the only opportunity to see the building in its raw state before construction begins in July.
Volunteers will help welcome visitors to the exhibit, answer basic questions (we'll provide a cheat sheet), and ensure visitors enjoy the art with their eyes, not their hands. Volunteers should be able to stand/walk for the entire shift, and must be able to safely walk on uneven ground. Unfortunately the building is not entirely handicap accessible in its current state.
