The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-Wisconsin Chapter

Who We Are

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was established in 1955 to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. At that time, the life expectancy for a CF patient was 18 months. Today, the life expectancy is 35. In 1989, the foundation-supported scientists discovered the gene, which, when defective, causes CF. Since then, many therapeutic treatments have been developed that have improved the quality of life for patients with CF. Also, gene therapy research continues to offer hope that someday, we will win the battle with CF.We conduct fundraising events throughout Madison and the Milwaukee area (and surrounding), and would welcome your involvement with open arms. Volunteers are the key to our success! Whether you join a committee and help get sponsors for an event, recruit companies to put together walk teams, or volunteer in our office, your involvement will help us achieve our mission -- curing and controlling cystic fibrosis. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a National Organization that works to raise money for cf research and care through events and sponsorship across the country. The Wisconsin office is just one of hundreds of chapters in the US.
