CHANGING THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE
Junior Achievement (JA) is a nonprofit organization that inspires and prepares young people for success in a global economy. We envision a world in which young people have the skill set and mindset to build thriving communities. JA has been educating young people about financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship since 1919. Learning experiences are available to all youth in grades K-12.
The inspiration piece comes from community volunteers who not only deliver Junior Achievement's lessons in local schools and youth community organizations but share their work and life experience. In the process, these volunteers serve as role models, helping to positively impact young people’s perceptions about the importance of education, as well as critical life skills. Preparation involves Junior Achievement's proven, age-appropriate lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness, and business ownership. Lessons are delivered to students using various platforms: in-person, virtual, or hybrid. The lessons range from one-time to multi-visit opportunities, events, and video recordings, depending on the JA program requested by the educator.
PREPARING YOUNG PEOPLE FOR A BRIGHT TOMORROW
By sharing your work and life experience through volunteering, you will help empower youth to not only pursue a fulfilling career, but also reinforce the importance of overall positive life choices. You will prepare youth by teaching JA’s proven, pre-written lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness, and business ownership.
