Dudgeon Monroe Neighborhood Association: Southwest Path Committee
We are a committee of the Dudgeon Monroe Neighborhood Association, a volunteer nonprofit on the near West side. The Committee supports several prairies along the Southwest Pedestrian Bike path, including the two in which you would work in. Our mission is to add beauty to our community and to develop and preserve prairies and other mixed gardens along the Southwest Bike-Pedestrian Path. The Southwest Bike- Pedestrian Path, commonly referred to as the Southwest Path, runs through Campus and extends westward to the Capital Trail, which is beyond the Beltline.
We develop and maintain two sites (Glenway Prairie and Prospect Gardens), along with other volunteers. You would join a work team. We plant prairie plants and perennials , control invasives and remove weeds while enjoying camaraderie and the beauty of the gardens. The Prospect Gardens also has raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb and two cherry trees that we tend to and enjoy the fruits of our shared labor. We also strive to develop a sense of community and friendship among our volunteers.
