Opportunities From: United Way of Dane County

Volunteer: Tutoring UW-Madison Employees

This opportunity will provide you valuable teaching experiences and working with people from other cultures. As one-on-one tutor, you will help an employee improve his or her English language, reading, writing, math or computer skills so he or she can pursue success in the workplace and community. You may be matched with a visiting scholar who wants to improve his or her conversational English, grammar, pronunciation and understanding of U.S. culture. Tutoring location will be decided by you and the employee when you meet with the coordinator for introduction. The weekly tutoring can be on or off campus and at a mutually convenient time.

Cultural Linguistic Services (CLS) tutors can access free, online tutor training through ProLiteracy.  Tutors can choose the ESL Tutor Training or the Basic Literacy Tutor Training, and receive a certificate of completion for each completed training module.  CLS hosts in-person trainings on special topics, as needed.

We are looking for someone who enjoys helping others learn and has patience.
