Volunteer: Meals On Wheels delivery

Volunteering for SSM Health at Home Meals on Wheels is a great way to make a huge impact in a short amount of time. By delivering meals you bring nutritious food and a friendly visit to seniors and people with disabilities in your community during the noontime hour.

We offer a mid-day meal providing daily nutrition and safety checks to those in need. All meals are delivered by dedicated volunteers, and made fresh daily.

We deliver around 300 meals a day, 5 days a week, and have 4 different pick up locations through the city of Madison (West Madison, Monona/East Madison, South Madison and Northeast Madison). Meal delivery is scheduled between 11am – 1pm every day of the week. Delivery routes usually take about an hour, each route has anywhere from 10-15 people on it. Your commitment can be very flexible. We will work with whatever dates you have available. Some people volunteer every Monday, some volunteer once a month. Whatever works for you, works for us! There is an application and orientation that would need to be completed in order to be a volunteer.

Anyone over the age of 18 who has a reliable car can deliver meals, it’s a great opportunity for families and teams of employees.   Call today and find out how easy and rewarding it is to bring nutrition and independence to your neighbors!  Please call 608-219-0458 or e-mail at HAHWI.MOW@ssmhealth.com

Volunteer: Veteran to Veteran SSM Health at Home - Hospice Volunteering

As a partner of the We Honor Veterans program, Home Health United has implemented a number of different initiatives to help improve the care we provide our Veteran patients.

As part of this program, SSM Health at Home– Hospice has created a Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program, an innovative model for serving Veterans at the end of life. The goal of the Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program is to pair veteran hospice volunteers with veteran hospice patients. Once paired, veteran volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with the patient creating an environment where life review and healing may occur. Many Veterans receiving SSM Health at Home– Hospice services wish to be connected with a volunteer who is also a veteran. This program makes that possible.

As a hospice veteran volunteer, you can provide support and comfort by offering a few hours of your time, companionship, and camaraderie. Volunteering times are flexible. Free, comprehensive training is provided, and no medical experience is necessary. All volunteers must maintain volunteer requirements and attend annual trainings. Help honor a veteran and become aSSM Health at Home– Hospice Volunteer today!
