One or a couple volunteer groups will be needed to help for the Oakwood Village University Woods annual Evening Under the Oaks summer concert series, June-August.

Up to 5 volunteers will be needed each time to help with the following tasks for the concert series:

- help Life Enrichment staff get and bring Assisted Living, Memory Care or Skilled Nursing residents to the concert

- help residents go back to their respective buildings after the concert is done

- also help Life Enrichment staff reset the outdoor Assisted Living patio area (when concerts are held outside weather permitting) to include moving furniture

- volunteers will be needed to help 5:45-8:00 p.m. for each concert

- concerts are scheduled, and volunteers are needed, for the following dates:  June 13 & 27, July 11 & 25, and August 8 & 22.

- concerts are held outside, weather permitting, on the Assisted Living patio area.  In the event of bad weather, the concert is moved inside to the University Woods Arts Center.  If that happens for any concert, a volunteer group will only need to help transport residents.

Volunteer groups from area schools, businesses, etc. are needed to help as Life Enrichment Transporter Groups with monthly or periodic needs during the year at Oakwood Village University Woods. 

Transporter Groups are needed to be set up to help Assisted Living, Memory Care or Skilled Nursing residents get to programs and events a few times or even once a month during the year.  Groups will be set up to volunteer for day(s) and time(s) of day that work for them related to when help is needed. Groups can have the option to have the same members volunteer, or have members take turns volunteering each time, they are scheduled.

Examples of upcoming needs include taking Oakwood Village University Woods residents to evening concerts in the University Woods Arts Center, take residents outside (weather permitting) Monday-Friday afternoons in the summer, go to monthly Heartstrings musical programs September-May, and other weekday or weeknight special events during the year.

Volunteers are needed to help greet and direct visitors at the Oakwood Village University Woods Skilled Nursing building on Sundays, 10:00 am-2:00 pm, a minimum of twice a month.  In addition, volunteers will also help with basic clerical projects to fill in time while at the front desk.

A third volunteer is also needed to help at the Skilled Nursing front desk once or a couple times a month on Saturdays, 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

Scheduling is flexible for both days.

Assisted Living dining room volunteers are needed to help serve hot beverages to residents in the Tabor Oaks dining room during, and help residents go back to their rooms after, meal time once a week at Oakwood Village University Woods.  Dining room volunteers are needed to help for breakfast (7:30-9:00 a.m.), lunch (11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.), or dinner (4:30-6:00 p.m.) once a week.  Volunteers will be set up to help for the same day and meal time each week for consistency.  NOTE: volunteers will help residents go back to their rooms after lunch and dinner from the Tabor Oaks dining room, but not breakfast.

This help is needed for residents to have a quality meal time experience.

Interested volunteers need to get registered for placement set up.

Volunteers are needed to help the Oakwood Village University Woods Therapy Department staff to bring residents in wheelchairs for therapy appointments and to put next-day appointments on in-room whiteboards for residents.

Volunteers need to help bring residents to the Therapy Department a minimum of once a week, Monday-Friday, in the morning, 8:15 am-12:15 pm, or in the afternoon, 12:45-1:00-3:30 pm.  Volunteers that help put resident next-day appointments on in-room boards need to help once a week, Monday-Friday, 2:30-3:00 pm.

Interested volunteers need to get registered for placement set up.

A Grocery Ordering Assistant volunteer is needed to do the Oakwood Village University Woods Independent Living Village Store online ordering once a week on Monday for the Tuesday order, or Wednesday for the Thursday order.

A Grocery Ordering Assistant will be trained for the online grocery ordering basics, but needs computer and online grocery ordering experience to be considered for placement.  In addition, a Grocery Ordering Assistant will need to have and bring their personal laptop or tablet to use for the online ordering.

Village Store volunteer Cashiers are also needed to serve a few times a month as a regular volunteer for Monday or Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., or as a substitute volunteer when needed Monday-Saturday.  New volunteers will be trained about opening/closing, and using the computerized cash register, for the store before officially starting.

Volunteers are scheduled in advance, but scheduling is flexible, to serve in the Village Store.  More volunteers are needed to ensure the Village Store is open as scheduled to maintain as a beneficial Oakwood Village University Woods amenity for residents and other customers.

Interested volunteers to help as a Grocery Ordering Assistant or Cashier need to get registered for placement set up.

Volunteer Cashiers are needed in the Oakwood Village University Woods Oakleaf Gift Shop a few times a month Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  New volunteers will be trained about opening/closing and using the computerized gift shop cash register before officially starting.

Volunteers are scheduled in advance, but scheduling is flexible.

More volunteers are needed to ensure the Oakleaf Gift Shop is open as scheduled to maintain as a beneficial Oakwood Village University Woods amenity for residents and other customers.

Interested volunteers need to get registered for placement set up.

Technology savvy volunteers needed to help set up University Woods' theatre stage with microphones for musical groups and to help play movies. Volunteers needed to help a minimum of 1, and maximum of 3, hours per time. Evening availability for weekdays and weekends is highest priority.
