FairShare CSA Coalition is recruiting volunteers for our super fun Bike the Barns event on Sunday, September 15. Bike the Barns is FairShare’s biggest fundraising event, and raises crucial funds for our organization and for our Partner Shares program which helps households with low incomes to purchase CSA shares from a farm in their community.
This year’s event starts and ends at Lake Leota park in Evansville, WI, and has site stops at 4 farms and a water stop before ending at Lake Leota park for an after party. Stops include delicious local food and beverages, music, farm tours, and for those who sign up for the Bus the Barns there are participatory activities. Bike the Barns welcomes around 850 riders on a fun ride through the Wisconsin countryside.
Volunteers assist with a range of tasks including rider check-in, parking, food and beverage service, merchandise sales, and more. And, if you can’t make it on the day of the event we have opportunities to assist with rider bag stuffing and route marking held prior to the event day. Shifts range from 3 hours to 7 hours, with most being around 4 hours. All volunteers receive volunteer swag and will be able to enjoy the food at the site where they volunteer, and anyone volunteering for 5 or more hours gets a tasty local lunch and tickets to the after party, too!
Volunteer sign-ups are open now through September 9 through this link. We look forward to spending a beautiful day with you in and around Evansville!
