People often come to/call OutReach to talk to someone. That person is usually the volunteer sitting at the front desk! Ten hours of training will prepare you for staffing our front desk. You will learn everything from how our office functions to dealing with the public. As the first person that people see when they come to OutReach, you play a vital role in helping us serve our communities. You'll provide referral to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender-affirming businesses and organizations as well as document use of OutReach's services. Front desk volunteers also provide important support for staff members in terms agency projects, fundraising events and mailings.
RESTRICTIONS: If you want to volunteer your time directly with clients, attendance is mandatory at all sessions during one of the training sessions listed. The next training is TBD. All peer-counseling volunteers must complete 10 hours of training and must be at least 18 years of age. OutReach asks that you commit to volunteering in this capacity for 3 hours per week for one year. Daytime, evening and weekend hours are available.
