The Road Home Dane County is actively recruiting volunteers for its Families Moving Forward back-to-school party on Saturday, August 13th from 12-2pm in Brittingham Park. Over the past few months, we've been working with our local business and community partners to collect backpacks filled with school supplies for children of families enrolled in The Road Home housing programs. Thanks to their generous support, we've smashed our collection goals, and now it's time for the fun part -- distributing them to awesome kids like these:
We're seeking volunteers to help with event set-up/breakdown, materials transport, food and backpack distribution, and activity supervision. Those interested in helping out can join us for the entire day, or they can sign up for the following shifts:
- 9:30 am to 12:00 pm (set-up and materials transport)
- 11:30 am to 2:00 pm (registration help, backpack and food distribution, activity supervision)
- 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm (break-down and clean-up)
In addition to that lovely feeling that comes with giving back to your community, volunteers will also enjoy good food from local vendors, great music by Kinfolk Soul, and the chance to run family-friendly activities with some of the coolest kids around.
