Wisconsin 4-H AmeriCorps programs aims to increase capacity of youth serving organizations in counties throughout Wisconsin. The members will work directly with community partnership in youth serving organizations to discover opportunities to grow capacity and reach new young people or develop new youth programming. Member will be located primarily at the Dane County Extension Office, but may travel occasionally for programming. Member returns to their private residence each night and will serve on projects in and around Dane County, Wisconsin.
Member will serve 1700 hours from September 2023 - August 2024.
Organizational Capacity Building:
- Build relationships with local youth organizations, and assess organization’s current youth programming options
- Participate in coalition or network meetings to learn more about community organizations and opportunities
- Develop and deliver programming to meet identified organizational needs (see program delivery)
- Recruit volunteers to build sustainable capacity building (see volunteer development)
Volunteer Development:
- Recruit and orient volunteers to create sustainable programming and capacity
- Develop curriculum, activity/lesson plans for identified topics or program types
- Expand recruitment for programming participation
Program Delivery:
- Co-create new or expanded programming to build capacity of organization to reach new audiences, provide new programming options, and meet organizational needs and goals
- Provide culturally appropriate direct youth development programming to youth between 5-19 years of age
- Conduct evaluations of participants and families for program improvement and additional programming requests
- Expand recruitment for programming participation
Leadership and Skill Development:
- Participate in onboarding and ongoing professional development, earn certificates and badges as available
Members will work with community organizations/associations on a 5 step capacity building process:
- Introductory Meeting
- Completion of an initial organizational assessment (pre-evaluation)
- Creation of new youth programming within the organization
- Recruitment and training of volunteers
- Completion of a final assessment (post-evaluation)
