Volunteers needed in various locations across Dane County!
At Heartland, we consider the chance to be involved in the lives of our patients and families both a sacred opportunity and a privilege. The love, respect and care our hospice volunteers provide is vitally important to our patients' overall well-being during challenging times.
Vets for Vets Volunteers
We match our Veteran Volunteers with a Veteran patient who may have similar experiences. Veterans bond on various levels, even from varying generations. Our program is designed to create bonds, teach, heal, and stimulate each individual on shared experiences. These Volunteers also receive specific training focused on a Veteran’s End of Life needs.
We require at least 6 months of commitment with a patient, frequency flexible with your schedule (at least a half-hour per month)!
Hospice volunteers say that being intimately involved with another person's death gives them a greater appreciation for life. Some say it makes them more grateful and less susceptible to getting ruffled over life's smaller hassles such as long lines and traffic jams [source: Hospice Volunteer Association].
