2023 Summer Games, Whitewater

 
 

 

 

Event Description:

The 2023 Summer Games will feature state competitions in Cornhole, Powerlifting, Soccer, Tennis, and Track & Field. 

 

Upon arrival for check-in, volunteers will receive a station assignment and general Special Olympics Wisconsin orientation. Once dispersed to the station, volunteers will receive additional sport-specific orientations, as needed. Volunteers working multiple shifts on the same day or a shift lasting 5 hours or more will receive a lunch ticket. 

 

Thursday, June 8, 2023:  

  • Power Team: Assists with loading and unloading trucks, delivering items around campus as needed, and help set-up and tear down competition or event sites. 
    • 12:00pm - 3:00pm
  • Opening Ceremonies: Help athletes line up for the Parade of Athletes and guide them through the Parade to their seats. Help tear down the Opening Ceremonies after conclusion.
    • 5:00pm - 9:00pm
  • First Aid Station*: Work at the First Aid Station and support any athlete injuries. *Volunteers must provide proof of CPR/First Aid certification. 
    • 5:00pm - 9:00pm

Friday, June 9, 2023

  • Victory Village
  • Track & Field: Volunteer roles include track timers, escorts, jumps station, shot put station, throws station, and awards. Track or field experience preferred. 
    • AM Shift: 8:00am - 12:00pm
    • PM Shift: 12:00pm - 4:30pm
  • Soccer: Run the scorekeepers table for a soccer field. Each shift includes 3-4 soccer matches. 
    • AM Shift: 8:30am - 12:30pm
    • PM Shift: 12:30pm - 4:00pm
  • Cornhole: Scorekeepers for Cornhole will manage games on a specific court and keep score. 
    • AM Shift: 8:30am - 12:30pm
    • PM Shift: 12:30pm - 5:00pm
  • First Aid Station*: Work at the First Aid Station and support any athlete injuries. *Volunteers must provide proof of CPR/First Aid certification. 
    • AM Shift: 8:00am - 12:00pm
    • PM Shift: 12:00pm - 4:30pm

Saturday, June 10, 2023

  • Track & Field: Volunteer roles include track timers, escorts, jumps station, shot put station, throws station, and awards. Track or field experience preferred. 
    • AM Shift: 8:00am - 12:00pm
    • PM Shift: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
  • Soccer: Run the scorekeepers table for a soccer field. Each shift includes 3-4 soccer matches. 
    • 8:00am - 2:00pm
  • Powerlifting: Help facilitate competition in Bench Press, Squat, and Deadlift. Previous Powerlifting experience preferred. 
    • 9:00am - 3:00pm
  • Tennis: Keep score on a court and help retrieve tennis balls. Volunteers will also help present awards. 
    • 8:00am - 1:00pm
  • First Aid Station*: Work at the First Aid Station and support any athlete injuries. *Volunteers must provide proof of CPR/First Aid certification. 
    • AM Shift: 8:00am - 11:30am
    • PM Shift: 11:30am - 3:00pm

Volunteer Eligibility

  • No experience required (unless otherwise designated). Special Olympics Wisconsin will provide training before your shift start time. 
  • Volunteers ages 13 years and older can volunteer by themselves. 
  • Volunteers ages 12 years and under must be accompanied by a chaperone. 

*First Aid station volunteers must be First Aid/CPR certified.
