Position Summary
The Social Media Marketing Coordinator will manage and grow Dane Dances’ social media presence to promote events, engage the community, and increase attendance. This role is ideal for a creative, organized individual who enjoys storytelling, community-focused marketing, and local events.

Key Responsibilities

·        Create, schedule, and publish content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and others as needed)

·        Promote weekly events, performers, sponsors, and locations

·        Engage with followers by responding to comments and messages

·        Capture and share photos and short videos at Dane Dances events

·        Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual style

·        Track basic engagement metrics and suggest improvements

Qualifications

·        Experience managing social media accounts for a business, nonprofit, or event

·        Strong writing and communication skills

·        Basic photography and short-form video skills (phone-based content is acceptable)

NewBridge Foot Clinics bring affordable, dignified foot care to older adults across the Madison area and we need volunteers to help.  No medical experience is needed; just a willingness to help and a friendly smile.

Band Committee

This committee is responsible for listening to, assessing, recommending for booking local and area bands and DJ's.  Of specific importance to this committee is to contract with ethnically and musically diverse bands.

Logistics Committee

This committee has the responsibility of planning and coordinating the routine activities for each night of Dane Dances.

Publicity Committee

This committee ensures that Dane Dances and its mission and activities are consistently presented in a positive way to the public.

Fund-Raising Committee

This committee is responsible for fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying what funding is needed; exploring funding sources; creating strategies to approach potential sponsors; and assisting in preparation of proposals and presentations.

Dane Dances! was founded in 1999 and is one of Madison's most popular summertime events. The summer's free dance concert series will be held every Friday in August at the Monona Terrace Rooftop and needs volunteers to help make the events a great success.  We have a variety of shifts and different jobs but all of them are fun and would not be possible without our committed volunteers.

The Board of Directors in conjunction with the Members, the Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the organization, and delegates responsibility for day-to-day operations to the Organization's Director and committees.

The specific duties of the Board shall include, but not limited to the following:

(a) Approving the budget for the organization and any major expenditure of funds which may be recommended by the Director.

(b) Evaluating and approving policies relating to the operation of the organization to ensure that the organization is governed in a manner best suited to serve it Members.

(c) Reviewing the Director's reports on the status and progress of the organization and advising the Director of any recommended changes in the organization.

(d) Selecting the Officers who will serve on the Executive committee.

(e) Appointing successors for Board members who resign or are removed.

(f) Making decisions concerning the general business of the organization when there is a conflict with the Members under this section para C.

(g) Enhancing the Organization's public image by helping to articulate the organization's mission, accomplishments and goals, as well as gathering support from the community.

(h) Working in partnership with the Director and Fundraising Committee to raise funds from the community.

The board receives no compensation.

Board meetings are quarterly in the Madison area.

A Theatre House Event Manager volunteer is needed to make an ongoing commitment serving 2-4 hours once a week in rotation with the resident volunteer team to help with basic event technical support.  The volunteer Manager will serve for the University Woods campus Theatre.

Responsibilities include microphone and film setup, supporting musicians with sound checks before concerts, remaining onsite during events to ensure sound quality, and shutting down and securing equipment afterward. 

Ideal candidate is a dependable, detail-oriented adult (No high school/college students necessary) with required technology comfort and enjoys supporting live performances/film events.  Training will be provided.

COOKING VOLUNTEER

Join the cooking team & assist staff with cooking healthy and nutritious meals for elementary, middle and
high school-aged students participating in afterschool programming at the Lussier Community Education

What

The Millennium Soccer Club (MSC) is in its 25th year of providing affordable and accessible soccer programs for elementary school youth living in several of Madison's lower-income, ethnically diverse neighborhoods, many of whom might not otherwise have an opportunity to play.  These programs (offered each fall, spring, and summer) focus primarily on providing basic instruction in the fundamentals of soccer along with giving our participants an opportunity to have fun playing in a wide variety of soccer games.

Who

Our neighborhood-based programs are open to both boys and girls who will be playing together on teams in one of our two grade-level divisions: 1st/2nd and 3rd-5th.  This fall, we anticipate that MSC’s soccer programs will serve over 250 kids.

Where 

Millennium’s fall sessions will be held at 3 schools: Huegel, Leopold, and Lincoln Elementary School and 2 parks: Marlborough and Warner Park, which are located in our targeted neighborhoods in south Madison and on the east side. 

When 

The upcoming fall season will consist of six sessions on Saturdays, beginning April 25 and ending on May 23rd. We have a rain date of May 30th in case we need to cancel due to weather.

Program Set-Up

Each session, which consists of a combination practice and game, runs from 9:30-11:00am. For the first half of the session, our coaches will lead their teams through a variety of challenging activities that focus primarily on the development of good individual skills, as well as a number of basic team-related skills.  In the second half, each team will play a game against another team in its grade-level division.  Since our teams consist of only 6-8 players, the games are played 4v4 (with no goalies), which enables greater involvement by all of our players. 

Volunteers Needed 

MSC is currently seeking volunteer coaches for all of its programs this fall. Those who volunteer will coach with the same team at each of the sessions that they are available to coach.  It is anticipated, and assumed, that those who volunteer will not be available to coach at all six of our sessions because of school, travel or work commitments.

What You Can Expect as a Volunteer 

You will find that Millennium’s young players really enjoy playing soccer, are eager learners, and work well with their volunteer coaches.  Let us know if you wish to coach with someone else who is volunteering. The coaching coordinators at each of Millennium’s neighborhood sites will provide weekly practice plans and coaching tips for their coaches.

Must to 21+ years of age and be available or a weekly or biweekly volunteer shift with general availability for 3+ months.

A volunteer is needed to take over for the Music Therapist as Tone Chime Choir Conductor or start out helping the therapist as Tone Chime Choir Assistant for the Oakwood Village University Woods resident Tone Chime Choir starting in February 2026.

The commitment would require a volunteer conductor or assistant to be involved weekly with 1 hour rehearsals.  In addition, the commitment would also require a conductor or assistant to be involved with and lead 2-4 performances during the year, which can be for Sunday morning worship services or concerts for residents at University Woods.  Currently 8-12 University Woods residents are involved in the Tone Chime Choir.

A prospective volunteer needs to have Tone Chime experience if possible.  The current tone chime choir is an adapted one that uses symbols to read notes and chords so any resident can participate regardless of musical background.  A new conductor or assistant could keep the adapted approach or use the more traditional approach of reading sheet music.  A full tone chime choir set is available for the choir to use and is stored on campus.

This volunteer need will be under the supervision of the Oakwood Village certified Music Therapist on staff.  The therapist will provide training for a new volunteer to be ready and comfortable in the role of conductor or assistant.

NOTE: No volunteers are needed to join and participate as Tone Chime Choir members.  Only volunteers with Tone Chime experience are needed to help in a leadership/assistant position.

Prospective volunteers will need to get registered with the Oakwood Village University Woods Volunteer Services Coordinator first to be set up.  Registration includes taking care of paperwork, background screening and TB skin tests.  It will be about a 3-week process.

If you want to give—and be certain that your donation benefits children in your community—drop off clothing donations in the large bin outside our store. FoodBridge delivery volunteers help reduce food insecurity by delivering groceries from local food pantries to older adults who face barriers such as limited mobility, health challenges, or lack of transportation. This support helps clients access consistent food while remaining in their homes.

Volunteers are matched with one to three older adults and typically deliver from a specific food pantry on an ongoing basis. Delivery schedules are coordinated directly between the volunteer and the older adult, allowing for flexibility and reliability. NewBridge staff provide guidance and are available for support as needed.For many clients, these regular deliveries offer more than food. Seeing a familiar face and knowing someone will show up provides reassurance, stability, and a meaningful connection to the community

Home Chore Volunteers: Help older adults with everyday household tasks they can no longer safely do on their own. This support allows people to remain in their homes longer, maintain their independence, and feel safe in familiar surroundings. Tasks may include light cleaning, basic yard work, or small jobs that have become physically difficult over time

Volunteers are matched with clients based on location, availability, and comfort level. Some volunteers help one person on a regular basis, while others assist with one-time or seasonal needs. No special skills are required. Staff provide clear guidance, safety expectations, and ongoing support.

Our center is cleaning and re-organizing our supplies. We need volunteers who love tedious, detail-oriented work to help enter our supplies into a Google Sheet inventory. Since we are currently working through this big project of cleaning, you may need to also help add labels to bins with our label maker.  

Tar sands pipelines carry some of the dirtiest, most energy intensive and toxic fuels on the planet. We have several of them in Wisconsin, and right now we're fighting to shut down tar sands Line 5 in northern Wisconsin which is threatening the homelands and waters of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa. This is their sovereign territory, yet Enbridge has refused for over a decade to remove the pipeline as asked, and instead are proposing a reroute that would put many more lands and waters at risk. Join our fight to protect indigenous people's and their rights by joining our tar sands team and help organize and generate more public opposition to this dirty pipeline. It's time to put people and the planet ahead of profits!

Concerned about all the environmental threats we're facing? By getting involved at the local/regional level with the Four Lakes Group in south central Wisconsin, you can offer ideas, decide on activities, discuss finances, and set directions consistent with national and state Sierra Club policies and stances.

Four Lakes Group board members discuss what issues we will become involved with or take stances on, conduct various programs and activities to support key issues in this area, and also get involved in elections. It allows you to have input on local issues you care about and want to make a difference on.  We are entirely volunteer led, which means you can play an important role.

We have fall elections, but can contact us at any time you're interested since we may have openings. Sierra Club membership is required, but you can easily join if you are not. We meet once a month - often online. time commitment is generally several hours a month, but depends on your interests and level of commitment that fits for you. Join us to make a difference, learn leadership and organizational skills, or make connections and build your resume.

Especially with so many data center proposals, many utilities want to build new gas power plants, and continue our reliance on fossil fuels. This could result in significant escalation in energy demand, and major hikes in utility bills. Our clean energy goals could also be in serious trouble.

We're also fighting for energy justice. Many people are already burdened by unaffordable energy bills as utilities continue to jack up rates. We're working to get the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to stop permitting fossil fuels and provide affordable bills and programs.

If you want to fight utility greed and stop fossil fuels and new gas infrastructure, join our Beyond Coal to Clean Energy team and help us provide a clean energy future with renewable energy solutions. We meet the third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm online.

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) seeks a friendly and adaptable individual to join
its team in a dynamic volunteer position engaging the public onsite at their indoor/outdoor Monona campus. ALNC is now looking for a dedicated volunteer to assist with weekday and/or weekend reception desk staffing. Activities focus on greeting visitors, accepting mail and deliveries, assisting our community in-person and via phone and email, and helping grow the ALNC community.

Girls on the Run has a great use for supplies to deliver our program each season. Learn how to teach elementary-age youth to read as a trained tutor.

Goodman Community Center is offering a tutoring program that teams adult tutors with elementary youth. Teams of adults and youth will work to improve the young person‘s reading skills, with support from our Goodman Literacy Specialist.

This program runs for a total of 13 weeks, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-5pm.

Spring semester runs January 27- April 30th, 2026. 

Sessions are broken into two chapters (see below):

Chapter 1: For the first 5 weeks, all new tutors attend a Science of Reading evidence-based training where they learn to use toolboxes of literacy resources and activities (before tutor sessions begin). 

Chapter 2: The next 8 weeks (following the training) volunteers tutor elementary students in an after school "Lit Club." 

All tutors are assigned to a tutor team that provides continued coaching and support. Ideal tutors and enthusiastic about reading and literacy and are available for the listed 6 hours per week.

FOOD PANTRY SORTING VOLUNTEER

The Lussier Community Education Center food pantry provides nutritious food to over 200 families per month. Our pantry receives food from Second Harvest Food Bank, TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program), generous individual donors, and generous business donors in the area.

We are looking for volunteers to help pick up large donations from our business donors twice a month. 

Volunteers use their own vehicles to pick up donated items. 

Shifts areas follows:

Volunteers are responsible for the physical task of loading donated items into crates (provided by the LCEC), lifting those crates into vehicles, and unloading crates from vehicles and into the LCEC (using carts w/ wheels). 

This is a physically demanding position and we ask volunteers to be mindful of their bodies, as well as their ability to lift and twist.

John Muir Elementary School, an MMSD public school on the West Side of Madison, is seeking volunteers to make a difference in the lives of our students!  Our school is highly diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, languages spoken at home, and socioeconomic status, with approximately 50% students with free and reduced lunch.
 
We will work with your interests and your availability to find a great volunteer opportunity for you!  Specific needs include literacy and math tutoring, classroom support, lunch/recess supervision, mentoring, gardening, shelving library books, or anything YOU might have in mind.
 
Any amount of time would be helpful.  Our school day begins at 7:35am, and ends at 1:10pm on Monday and 2:30pm on Tuesday-Friday.

We are looking for volunteers to help staff our front desk, act as greeters, answer phones, and do light administrative tasks. We are looking to fill 2-3 volunteer shifts per day, with our needs being Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We could use cloth bags with handles to provide for newly released Jail Residents as well as community members that may need them.

Physicians for Social Responsibility Wisconsin (PSR WI) is seeking ongoing volunteers to assist with the following:

Be a part of a brand new opportunity!  RSVP’s Intergenerational Programs is piloting a new program this year called True Connections.  True Connections is a hybrid Computer Buddy/In-Person program that offers the opportunity to support student literacy skill development while also forging a meaningful intergenerational relationship.  Volunteers are paired with one fourth or fifth-grade student for the duration of the school year. The program provides both monthly in-person connections and weekly electronic pen pal-type writing through a blog platform to encourage a deep connection with the student throughout the school year. Program participants are asked to view a recorded training prior to the first Meetup.  Mileage reimbursement is available for the in-person Meetups.

The program kicks off with an In-Person Meetup on Monday, September 29, at 3:30 pm at Lake View Elementary.  Each monthly meetup will include an activity focused on an area of life connection. (ie: food, music, arts, literature, etc.) Weekly electronic pen pal communications continue to develop the relationship by co-creating ideas and deepening connections between in-person Meetups.  

We need help in our front office! You'll be answering phone calls, doing basic organizing tasks, directing guests, and assisting with our diaper bank. Sometimes there's downtime so feel free to bring a book or homework. 

Application processors work within an animal adoption software program.  The program provides detailed information about each cat adoption applicant. The processor uses this information to follow several steps in making a decision about whether the applicant meets criteria for adoption. 

The steps include checking for previous applications from the applicant, conducting a background check on all adults in the household, checking home ownership in online records or phoning/emailing landlords for apartment dwellers, calling vets for care history on current and past animals, and calling one to two personal references.

Once the steps are completed, the processor updates the software program on the status for that applicant. If approved the processor sends the application on to an adoption coordinator.

The steps can usually be completed for four applicants within 2-3 hours. If information is requested of applicants or calls are not completed to vets or landlords, more time during the day can be required. In addition to processing applications, the processor monitors a 9 Lives email account for messages from applicants as well as a chat conversation with other 9 Lives personnel. 

The organization holds periodic social gatherings.

Location:  Virtual volunteer job in your own home.  Computer or tablet recommended to do the job.  Phone required.

Time required:  1 and ½ day shift.  First day is following application processing steps for up to 4 applicants.  Second day is follow-up for those applicants if needed.  Volunteers usually work one to two shifts per week.  The days of the week for work can be arranged.

Good verbal and written communication skills to communicate with applicants, vets, landlords, references and others in the 9 Lives organization.

Computer and phone skills.  Texting skills if choose to text instead of use phone for some contacts.

Interim Hospice is looking for Vigil Volunteers. Vigil Volunteers offer our patients and their family support during their final hours. 

Vigil Volunteering is an especially important and rewarding volunteer role. This role works closely with our on-call staff. Vigil Volunteering does require 11 hours of online training. Upon conclusion of training, Vigil Volunteers will receive a certificate of completion.

Join our fundraising team to work on fundraising strategies and help plan events. Whether you have experience in fundraising or just want to help our chapter raise funds, we have opportunities for you. There are many skills and interests that can be involved in planning, outreach, and event planning or other skills that are part of putting together events that can be useful. Events are sometimes online as well as in person, and meetings are online. We have a general template that has worked well for us, but we are always open to new ideas and how to improve our efforts. Fundraising is a key element of helping our chapter succeed. 

Tired of trash and waste and want to help us do better? Our Four Lakes Sierra Club Recycling Away from Home (RAH) program is working to create a community culture of less waste. We're at several east side Madison festivals where we help with the trash and recycling to limit landfill trash and maximize recycling, which are also opportunities to bring more attention to our trashy habits. You also get to enjoy fun festivals with the great music, vendors, food and drink. And you'll receive a genuine Four Lakes t-shirt for volunteering.

This summer, we'll be at Atwoodfest on July 26 & 27, and Africafest on August 16. We'd love to have you join us, so please contact us to get involved.

We also have a longer term goal to enact stronger community standards and reduce waste, and we hope to hold some more discussions with the City of Madison to figure out how to reduce use of wasteful items. Do you like to drive? Enjoy meeting and helping people? RSVP’s Driver Services Program needs drivers to transport ambulatory, older adults and/or Veterans to medical appointments. The schedule is very flexible and drivers receive mileage reimbursement and extra insurance. Drivers who are Veterans can be matched with Veterans of all ages and their families needing rides. This is a program that truly makes a difference in people’s lives!

URGENT NEED FOR DRIVERS FOR MADISON AND MONONA

RSVP volunteers extend agency services in non-profit and public agencies throughout Dane County. RSVP matches a wide variety of volunteer opportunities with the skills and interests of volunteers.

Dane County schools need tutors and classroom helpers for students entering kindergarten through 12th grade. Volunteers, working under the direction of the school staff, assist students one-on-one or in small  or large groups. With your help the students will get the individualized attention they need to excel in the classroom. Schools are looking for volunteers to help with literacy, math, science, general classroom assistants, help in the library, art classes, music classes or in the lunchroom.  Tutor placement begins in late September or early October and occur throughout the year. Tutor training is provided. 

Foster Grandparent volunteers serve between 5 and 40 hours a week, providing one-on-one support for students, teachers, and classrooms in Dane Co. schools, Head Start sites, and afterschool programs. Income-eligible adults receive a tax-free stipend, meal, and travel reimbursement for their service. 

Would you enjoy corresponding with an elementary student throughout the school year? The Computer Buddies Program is offered to Dane County area elementary schools. RSVP volunteers are matched with a student and communicate in pen pal fashion weekly or biweekly via a secure blogging site. the correspondence provides the opportunity for students to practice their writing and computer keyboard skills, while fostering a positive relationship between generations. This is a fun way to volunteer without having to leave your home. the program does not involve a big time commitment, usually 30 minutes a week. 

RSVP is currently looking for Volunteer Bus Buddy-Ride Coordinators for the 2025 Bus Buddy Tours Season. 

Have fun coaching and training others to navigate the new Madison Metro Bus System using maps, schedules and the internet. 

The Bus Buddies program offers Dane County seniors who wish to utilize public transportation to community and senior centers, shopping, appointments, and places of interest,  the opportunity for help and companionship from experienced volunteers that are familiar with public transportation.

Bus Buddy Tours offers seniors age 60 and over an opportunity to go on a group trip by city bus to a designated location while learning how to navigate the Madison Metro Bus System. This program is designed to help ease the way for those who are not used to using the bus system while creating a fun social outing for those involved.

Our Sierra Club Four Lakes Group produces a newsletter 3 times a year, we have a blog on our web site that can be contributed to on an ongoing basis, and we do a monthly Enews. We'd welcome your joining us if you have skills or interests in writing, editing, graphics or social media to help communicate our environmental activities and issues. Our newsletter comes out in early January, May and September each year. We collaborate as a group, but are flexible on content, and include information on our campaigns, activities and volunteers. Access to a computer is required, but you can work from wherever with whatever software you have.

We sometimes need to create information sheets or flyers about some of our campaign work or other activities, so there are intermittent opportunities to help with other communication.

Do you have a friendly, gentle, well-mannered dog who loves getting and giving attention?  You and your dog can light up the day of Agrace Patients! Volunteers and their dogs are needed to visit with Agrace patients living in long-term care facilities in the community, or at the Madison Inpatient Unit. Dogs must be registered therapy dogs through one of our partnering therapy dog organizations.  Volunteer must be at least 18 years old.

This is a perfect opportunity for people who work during the week or students over the aged of 16!

The Agrace Thrift Stores (East and West Madison, the Homestore, and Janesville) are looking for volunteers to help primarily with cashiering and providing customer service. The Thrift Stores are a very dynamic environment with a very strong sense of community. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of volunteering at least once a week (M-F) or every other week for a 4-hour Saturday shift (shift times vary: M-Sat 9am-1pm or 1-5pm). Training is provided.

Volunteers must be 16 years old. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, complete an online orientation and complete a background check.

Volunteers will provide companionship to patients living in Long-Term Care Facilities (i.e. Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities). Volunteers will help support our patients and families by providing companionship to patients, running errands, reading to patients, providing transportation, feeding patients, or providing a quiet caring presence. We serve patients all throughout south central Wisconsin, so volunteers can choose to visit patients who live in their own community.

The requirements for this volunteer position include the following: Completion of the application process, complete a 1-hour virtual orientation and a 1-hour virtual home care training. Volunteer must be at least 16 years of age and will require background checks, a 2-step TB test and yearly TB screening.

This is a great opportunity to provide support to Agrace patients and their caregivers. You will be able to visit with patients and provide much needed respite to caregivers. Volunteers may also assist by doing light housework or meal preparation, if requested.

The requirements for this volunteer position include the following;
Complete the volunteer application process and orientation session. Volunteers will complete a 1-hour virtual orientation training course and a 1-hour virtual home care training course, which is provided by Agrace to prepare you for your volunteer role. Inpatient and Residential Unit Direct Care Volunteers will provide companionship to patients by sitting bedside, assist patients with menu selections, deliver meals, assist with feeding patients and taking patients for walks around the Agrace building in Fitchburg. They will also help with other needs as they arise.

Requirements for this position include the following: completion of the volunteer application process and an orientation session. Volunteers will complete a 12-hour training course which is provided by Agrace. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and will require a 2-step TB test and yearly TB screening, which is paid for by Agrace.

Volunteers assist our skilled & fun kitchen staff by preparing food, restocking the coffee and nutrition centers, and generally helping around the kitchen. The Agrace kitchen focuses on creating delicious and creative meals using fresh ingredients and local produce. We welcome volunteers who have food preparation experience, and those who are just starting to cook and want to learn more!

Agrace has beautiful gardens thanks to the labor and love of gardening volunteers! The gardens provide a peaceful and renewing space for Agrace patients, visitors, and staff. Agrace is looking for volunteers to help care for the grounds and gardens at our facility in Fitchburg. Volunteers work weekly or every-other-week during the spring/summer/fall season. Duties include planting, watering, weeding, mulching and enjoying bringing joy to others. Volunteers should be comfortable digging, lifting, bending, etc. and enjoy being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. 

Requirements for this position include the following; completion of the volunteer application, 2 references, 2-step TB test and attendance at an orientation session. Volunteers will be given general hospice gardening training prior to being assigned a particular gardening area.

Professional, licensed cosmetologists or barbers are needed to provide occasional haircuts or styling to Agrace patients in our patients' homes. Sometimes hospice patients are unable to leave their homes for haircuts or styling; in other circumstances, patients would like to have hair styled for an upcoming event (birthday/anniversary). Providing this volunteer service is a compassionate gesture that improves quality of life for our patients. The requirements for this volunteer position include the following: Complete the volunteer application process and a 12-hour training course, which is provided by Agrace . Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Love coffee and good food? Our Doc Rock Café is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to make coffee drinks, take food orders, use a computerized cash register, and provide excellent customer service. It's a great way to interact with visitors, staff, and other volunteers in a fun environment. Training is provided. This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers of all ages, but has been especially popular with some of our high school volunteers (plus great job experience!). Volunteers sign up for weekly or twice-per-month 3- or 4-hour shifts. 

Hospitality volunteers greet and serve as a resource for visitors to Agrace in Fitchburg. Hospitality volunteers answer questions, walk visitors to patient rooms, and provide a welcoming presence to our facility. Day and evening shifts are available on weekends (as well as days and evenings on weekdays) and can be very flexible. Volunteers are welcome to bring a book or small project to work on between assisting visitors, so it's a great opportunity for students, crafters, etc.

Being an Interim Hospice volunteer is an intensely rewarding experience.  Volunteers provide support to patients who are near the end of life, and their family and caregivers.  Help is provided wherever the patient considers home, which could be their own house or apartment or an assisted living or skilled nursing facility.  The goal is to help maximize quality of life when quantity of life is limited.  Typical volunteer activities include:

- Visiting and companionship

- Breading and taking walks

- Writing letters

- Visiting with pets

- Bringing in music

- Giving respite relief for caregivers

- Shopping and errands

- Meal preparation

Volunteers may also choose to help in the office with mailing, computer work, and administrative duties.  Some volunteers have special training to help provide grief support.

Volunteers are required to complete an interview and about 9 hours of training.  They also receive ongoing support and training from the hospice care team.  Hospice education covers philosophy of hospice care; services offered by hospice; physical, emotional, social, and spiritual issues encountered at the end of life; effective communication when speaking with patients and family members; comfort care; the dying process; and basic information about grief and loss.

Step Up Tutoring is seeking volunteers to provide virtual 1-on-1 tutoring to 2nd-6th grade students from underserved communities to help build fundamental math and literacy skills and to provide support and encouragement. All tutoring will take place virtually! All you need is a computer and internet access. No prior tutoring experience is needed.

Responsibilities:

Tutor 1-on-1 twice a week via an online video platform; each session is 45 minutes

All training is done through online, self-paced modules. No prior tutoring experience is required.

Focus on building fundamental math and literacy skills using evidence-based online programs

NHCC Food Program Volunteers help stock, organize, and clean the food pantry, prep and serve community meals, and help manage the pantry and support clients while it is open.

Volunteers should be able to walk up and down stairs and lift up to 50 lbs over their head.
