Volunteer: Volunteer Cashier - Habitat ReStoreDo you like working with people and helping the cause of affordable housing? If so, join Habitat of Dane County as a volunteer cashier! Habitat ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, building materials and appliances at a fraction of the retail price. Volunteer cashiers are needed to: Greet and interact with customersOperate a registerUtilize the store paging systemMaintain a safe, clean work environmentShifts are available Wednesday mornings (9am-1pm), Thursday mornings, Friday mornings, and Saturday mornings or afternoons (1-5pm). We are asking for a commitment of 1 shift/week - or every other week - for at least 3 months. Training will be provided in the form of shadowing another cashier and/or staff member, at least once, up to as many times as wanted before feeling comfortable to cashier independently. Requirements: Ability to stand for the majority of a 4-hour shift (with periodic breaks and a chair available at the register)Good customer service skillsWillingness to learnWe will schedule an initial training shift to be sure it's a good fit.
