Volunteer: Love Your Community Build DayWhat better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than showing love for your community by building affordable housing with Habitat? Skip dinner and a movie this year and build a home for a family in our community. This build day is an opportunity to create lasting memories and make a meaningful impact by working together. Grab your partner, pal, sibling, neighbor, or co-worker and join us. Or, come solo for a fulfilling day of building and giving back! No experience is needed as all tools & training will be provided on site. Bundle up as we will be framing outdoors. Schedule: 8:15 am - Check in with site supervisor and safety talk12:00 pm - Lunch break (bring your own)3:00 pm - Clean up3:30 pm - End of dayWhat to wear: Clothes you don’t mind getting dirtyLayers - work will be outdoorsClosed toe shoes (work boots are ideal, but not required)What to bring: LunchFilled water bottleHabitat will provide all tools and safety equipment, but you are welcome to bring your own tool belt and/or hand tools if you likePlease note all participants will be required to wear a Habitat hard hat and safety glasses on site. Physical Requirements: Be able to stand for a prolonged duration of time and be able to walk, bend, and/or squatBe able to walk on uneven terrainBe able to work outside in various weather conditionsBe able to lift up to 30 lbs.Parking: Please park on the street. Habitat ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, building materials and appliances at a fraction of the retail price. Our ReStores have diverted 12,000 tons of building materials from Dane County’s landfills, and we need help processing all of the donations. Proceeds from the ReStores go directly to building homes in Dane County. Volunteers are needed to: Assist in unloading donations from the donation truck Clean, measure and prep donated materials as needed Process small hardware items Organize the sales floorPosition Requirements: Ability to stand & walk for 4-hour shift (with periodic breaks, snacks provided!)Shifts are available 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm, Tuesdays-Saturdays.
