A volunteer is needed to take over for the Music Therapist as Tone Chime Choir Conductor or start out helping the therapist as Tone Chime Choir Assistant for the Oakwood Village University Woods resident Tone Chime Choir starting in February 2026.

The commitment would require a volunteer conductor or assistant to be involved weekly with 1 hour rehearsals.  In addition, the commitment would also require a conductor or assistant to be involved with and lead 2-4 performances during the year, which can be for Sunday morning worship services or concerts for residents at University Woods.  Currently 8-12 University Woods residents are involved in the Tone Chime Choir.

A prospective volunteer needs to have Tone Chime experience if possible.  The current tone chime choir is an adapted one that uses symbols to read notes and chords so any resident can participate regardless of musical background.  A new conductor or assistant could keep the adapted approach or use the more traditional approach of reading sheet music.  A full tone chime choir set is available for the choir to use and is stored on campus.

This volunteer need will be under the supervision of the Oakwood Village certified Music Therapist on staff.  The therapist will provide training for a new volunteer to be ready and comfortable in the role of conductor or assistant.

NOTE: No volunteers are needed to join and participate as Tone Chime Choir members.  Only volunteers with Tone Chime experience are needed to help in a leadership/assistant position.

Prospective volunteers will need to get registered with the Oakwood Village University Woods Volunteer Services Coordinator first to be set up.  Registration includes taking care of paperwork, background screening and TB skin tests.  It will be about a 3-week process.

A volunteer with great computer/technology skills, to include data entry experience, is needed to help the Oakwood Village University Woods Volunteer Services Coordinator onsite at University Woods at least once a week, Monday-Friday, 2-4 hours each week.

A volunteer will help the coordinator with various projects in the Volgistics volunteer records database, to include recording hours, and other computer/technology projects to include Excel spreadsheets. 

Volgistics database/data entry and Excel/Microsoft Office 365 experience is required.  This opportunity will need to be onsite at University Woods, so not available to do remotely.  

Interested persons need to get registered and make the commitment to volunteer a minimum of 6 months for placement set up.

More volunteers are needed to help the newly merged Village Store & Gift Shop service for Independent Living at Oakwood Village University Woods.

Cashiers are needed to serve in the store/gift shop a few times a month Monday-Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  New volunteers will be trained about opening/closing, and using the computerized cash register.  Scheduling is flexible.

One or a couple Grocery Ordering Assistant volunteers are needed to help do simple online ordering of grocery items one or 2 days a week for Monday afternoon and Wednesday afternoons.  Training will be provided.  Interested volunteers need to have and bring their personal laptop or tablet to use to do the online ordering.

One or a couple Grocery Delivery volunteers are needed to help meet and get grocery items delivered to Oakwood to take to the Village Store & Gift Shop.  Volunteers are needed to help once a week Tuesday mornings, 9:45-10:45 a.m.  Training provided.  Volunteers will use a good-sized flatbed cart so physical ability to operate cart is necessary.

More of these volunteers are needed to ensure the Village Store & Gift Shop is open as scheduled to maintain as a beneficial Oakwood Village University Woods amenity for residents and other customers.

Interested persons for any of the Village Store & Gift Shop needs will need to get registered for placement set up.

Volunteers are needed to help greet and direct visitors at the Oakwood Village University Woods Skilled Nursing building on Sundays, 10:00 am-2:00 pm, a minimum of twice a month.  In addition, volunteers will also help with basic clerical projects to fill in time while at the front desk.

A third volunteer is also needed to help at the Skilled Nursing front desk once or a couple times a month on Saturdays, 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

Scheduling is flexible for both days.

Assisted Living dining room volunteers are needed to help serve hot beverages to residents in the Tabor Oaks dining room during, and help residents go back to their rooms after, meal time once a week at Oakwood Village University Woods.  Dining room volunteers are needed to help for breakfast (7:30-9:00 a.m.), lunch (11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.), or dinner (4:30-6:00 p.m.) once a week.  Volunteers will be set up to help for the same day and meal time each week for consistency.  NOTE: volunteers will help residents go back to their rooms after lunch and dinner from the Tabor Oaks dining room, but not breakfast.

This help is needed for residents to have a quality meal time experience.

Volunteers are needed to help the Oakwood Village University Woods Therapy Department staff to bring residents in wheelchairs for therapy appointments and to put next-day appointments on in-room whiteboards for residents.

Volunteers need to help bring residents to the Therapy Department a minimum of once a week, Monday-Friday, in the morning, 8:15 am-12:15 pm, or in the afternoon, 12:45-1:00-3:30 pm.  Volunteers that help put resident next-day appointments on in-room boards need to help once a week, Monday-Friday, 2:30-3:00 pm.

Interested volunteers need to get registered for placement set up.

Technology savvy volunteers needed to help set up University Woods' theatre stage with microphones for musical groups and to help play movies. Volunteers needed to help a minimum of 1, and maximum of 3, hours per time. Evening availability for weekdays and weekends is highest priority.
