NewBridge Madison is looking for volunteers to become Representative Payees to help pay bills for frail, older adults. Requirements: Visit on a monthly basis (2-6 hours/month); Able to manage a checking account and pay monthly bills in a timely manner; Work cooperatively with professionals, caregivers, and other involved members; Have a desire to develop a one-on-one caring relationship with an older adult; Be at least 26 years of age & a 2-year commitmentBenefits: You positively impact the quality of life for a vulnerable adult living in Dane County; The time commitment is very flexible and can fit into your schedule; You are provided training and ongoing support throughout your volunteer experience; The location of assignment is based on your preference.Volunteers are supported every step of the way. It Only Takes a Few Good People... Our mission is providing seniors a bridge to successful aging. NewBridge Madison is a nonprofit 501C (3) corporation that serves low income and homebound seniors. NewBridge Madison provides five main areas of programming for seniors in Madison and Monona: Case management services Senior meal sites Home chore and food assistance Cultural diversity programming Educational and recreational classes and social activitiesNewBridge Madison services help the community by reducing hospitalizations among seniors, assisting families to care for their aging parents, and bringing generations together through volunteerism.
Desired Skills and Expertise: We are currently recruiting for diverse leaders with expertise in the following area: Media or Community Connections: NewBridge Madison seeks a media or advertising professional, who has assisted with media or community wide events to support an issue or cause. We seek a board member to help cultivate increased media coverage and community connections for NewBridge Madison as part of a broader commitment to increase the visibility of our agency in the community. The ideal candidate will have connections to the local media, or community relations executives from local corporations/businesses.
Commitment: The board meets monthly. Board members serves a three-year term (up to two consecutive terms). Board members are expected to participate fully in one or more committees. Time commitment is a minimum of two hours a month.
Impact of NewBridge NewBridge Madison’s annual revenues are approximately $1.97 million and we are a financially sound organization. Each year, NewBridge Madison works with a certified public accountant agency to receive a full, unqualified audit. Currently over 80% of the money that comes into the organization turns directly into services to others. In 2019, NewBridge Madison served over 10,000 seniors.
