Up to 10 volunteers maximum will be needed to help the Oakwood Village University Woods Retirement Community skilled nursing care residents get around at Henry Vilas Zoo for outing at the zoo. Volunteers will meet and get direction from Oakwood Village Life Enrichment staff who will bring the residents to the zoo. The staff will match volunteers up with residents to push residents in wheelchairs or possibly walk with residents who will use a walker to help them get around the zoo for the outing.
2 volunteers would be needed to go to Oakwood Village University Woods to meet the Life Enrichment staff and help them put wheelchairs in an Oakwood truck to take to the zoo. Those volunteers would ride the truck to the zoo and back to Oakwood to help with the same thing after the outing is done. The time 2 volunteers will be at Oakwood will be somewhat longer than the time listed for the project request. The remaining 8 volunteers would need to go directly to the Henry Vilas Zoo to meet the residents and staff when they get to the zoo, so the time listed in the project request is the time they need to be at the zoo by and will be finished with the outing.
Volunteers will be greatly needed to help for this outing for the benefit of the residents to help them get around to see the zoo. This is one of many activities and events Oakwood Village Life Enrichment staff plan and schedule for residents to enhance their lives by meeting their needs in many ways related to their interests.
