The Playing Field

Our program intentionally addresses the barriers that prevent children of low-income families from accessing high quality early education services. An Early Headstart bus provides transportation from within our city, including local shelters. This grant and our scholarship funds assure that no family is turned away because of an inability to pay. Our facilities have been updated so that a child who arrives in need of a bath or clean clothing can have those needs addressed. Our staff has been extensively trained in trauma informed care. They are able to see beyond a child's actions and recognize that all behavior is communication. This way, they can respond to children in a way that brings healing and hope.

We care for and educate children experiencing homelessness right alongside children from more advantages backgrounds. We believe our unique model is an important step toward minimizing the disparity between Madison's children ad has amazing benefits for children from all backgrounds.
