Who We Are

The Technology Education Foundation, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) also known as "TEF”, is an invaluable resource to Dane County and the greater Madison area. TEF funds and supports community organizations and groups that provide important technology resources and technology education to residents – especially those who help close the “technology gap”. TEF funds benefit children, teens, and adults of all ages who do not have access to or have only limited access to technology. The Madison-based Berbee Derby Technology Education Foundation (TEF), has raised over $1,600,000 in technology education grants since its inception.

What We Do

The Berbee Derby is a fun-filled community event that has been running for 18 years strong! The Berbee Derby relies on a supportive volunteer base to turn the race into the incredibly special event that it is. 100% of proceeds from the Berbee Derby stay within the community and support Madison-area organizations and groups that benefit children, teens, and adults who do not have access to technology. Money raised from the event goes directly to grants awarded through the Technology Education Foundation which in turn provides much-needed technology resources to under-served demographics throughout the community. There are plenty of roles for our willing volunteers. We have lots of pre-race activities where we need support and help. And if you love the thrill of the race – but want to save your hamstrings! – we need lots of cheerful, supportive volunteers on the big day itself. All volunteers receive a free 2021 Berbee Derby long-sleeve t-shirt, plus a chance to win some fabulous prizes.
