WisPACT

WisPACT's mission is to improve the lives of persons with disabilities by providing them with more opportunities for a better life. Assets in a Special Needs WisPACT was put together in 2003 by members of Arc, National Association of Mental Illness, Alzheimer's Association and The Elder Law Section of the WI. State Bar, in order to help people with disabilities have the resources to help them live a higher quality of life without losing the public benefits that they need for basic living. Trust are not counted as resources under the rules that apply to Medicaid and the assets in a Special Needs Trust will not affect the beneficiary's ability to receive public benefits. Disabled persons can use their trust to provide them with things like a private room in a nursing home, a modified wheel chair etc. (the things that Medicaid and benefits cannot provide).
We do Special Needs Trusts for disabled persons so their assets are preserved and they are able to keep their public benefits. This gives the disabled person a better quality of life, by being able to use the trust to help with medical, dental, and other needs that they might have.
