Board On Aging And Long Term Care

Who We Are

The Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long Term Care is seeking volunteers for our Volunteer Ombudsman Program.  Volunteers advocate for nursing home residents 60 and older, by making unannounced visits to their assigned facility.  The visits take place at the volunteer'sers convenience, once a week, any day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.  These visits provide a valuable opportunity for residents to share concerns, offer ideas and talk with someone independent of the facility.

The Volunteer Ombudsman Program promotes residents’ rights and can be a voice for residents who don’t have family or visitors. The residents look forward to the weekly visits and talks with their Volunteer Ombudsman. Current volunteers say that they get more out of being an advocate in the program than they give—it’s a win-win for everyone! For more information or to apply please visit our website: https://longtermcare.wi.gov/Pages/Volunteer.aspx   Or call 1-800-815-0015.

Due to the nature of this position volunteers must complete a background check, attend 7.5 hours of initial training and attend in-service trainings throughout the year.
