Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice

We are congregations, social justice committees, clergy, religious leaders, and people of faith. We come from all over the state of Wisconsin and from many different faith traditions. We join together to educate ourselves and our communities about the important issues facing our state and to advocate for policies and programs that address the root causes of poverty, hunger, homelessness, and economic injustice. We do this because our faith traditions teach us that it is incumbent upon each individual, and society as a whole, to see to the needs of all our citizens. We came together in the wake of the 2011 uprising in Madison, where faith communities were deeply engaged in speaking out for workers' rights and for a just budget for the state of Wisconsin that would safeguard our health, education, environment, and that would look out for those living in poverty. Since then, our mission has grown to encompass immigrant and refugee rights and to combat Islamaphobia and anti-Semitism through building relationships among all our faith groups.
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice is an interfaith education and advocacy organization. We work with faith communities to raise awareness of issues of economic inequality, hunger and food insecurity, housing and homelessness, justice for immigrants and refugees, and interfaith community building. We provide a variety of experiential programs, such as our Minimum Wage Challenge and our Poverty Simulation, to educate our congregations about the challenges faced by low-wage workers and people living in poverty. We offer a faith-based advocacy workshop to train and inspire people of faith toward activism. We coordinate an Interfaith Community Building working group that brings together people of all faiths to learn about each other's traditions and beliefs, to build relationships, and to foster a sense of community. We are the backbone organization for the Dignity at Work Coalition, and we are on the steering committee of the Dane Sanctuary Coalition.
