The Achievement Connections program is seeking dedicated and caring individuals to commit two hours per week to tutoring Vel Phillips Memorial High School students in Algebra 1 and Geometry. This could be an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of students and give back to the community.
Currently we are recruiting for the 2024-2025 academic school year at Vel Phillips Memorial High School.
Responsibilities:
- Lead one-on-one tutoring sessions
- Make a difference in the lives of students and give back to the community
- Share your Algebra and Geometry skills
- Training provided
Preferred qualification for tutors:
- Possess strong content knowledge in algebra or geometry
- Strong desire to teach or mentor
- Commits to two hours or more per week of tutoring for a semester or longer.
- Attends tutor training sessions
Never tutored before? Don't worry. Volunteer tutors will go through an on-site training course. Volunteers should be comfortable with math but do not need to be "experts" - materials and support will be provided!
