We're getting off coal, but many utilities want to add new gas power plants, and we need to stop efforts to move to 'natural' gas. Especially with the potential growth of data centers, we're looking at a significant escalation in energy demand and continued reliance on fossil fuels. If that occurs, our clean energy goals will be in serious trouble.
In addition to ending the use of fossil fuels and moving to renewable energy and energy efficiency, we're also fighting for energy justice. Many people are burdened by unaffordable energy bills as utilities continue to jack up rates. We work with partners to push the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to stop permitting fossil fuels and provide affordable bills and programs to help people in need. You can help us end fossil fuel use and stop any new gas infrastructure by joining our Beyond Coal to Clean Energy team and moving to clean energy solutions and providing a just energy future.
We meet online the third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm. There are many opportunities including helping plan strategies and actions, developing social media, creating graphics, writing letters to the editor, and community outreach - and more, based on your skills or interests.
If you want to help create a clean and just energy future, this is a great opportunity to learn from and interact with trained staff and other volunteers.
