Volunteer Citizenship Class Teachers Needed. (Unpaid)

Madison International Partners offers free U.S. citizenship several classes to learners who want to prepare to take the citizenship test. The class are held online via zoom. The program is free of charge 

Position Description: The primary purpose of this position is to teach adults of diverse ages, ethnicities, and educational backgrounds, U.S. history and Civics to prepare them for their U.S. citizenship interview with USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). We offer two separated classes. The first  classes meets Tuesdays, 5 - 6:30 pm; and the second class meet on Saturdays, 9 - 10:30 am pm for a 12-week period. Candidates have the choice to teach the class that fit better with their schedules. No special skills are needed. The Teacher book and teaching materials are straightforward

 Responsibilities:

¨ Provide citizenship-preparation instruction to legal permanent residents seeking to naturalize

¨ Write lesson plans

¨ Provide counseling and referrals for students as needed

¨ Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of student progress and provide support for students who require additional assistance to attain proficiency

¨ Maintain a safe learning environment for students

Required Qualifications:

¨ Ability to work effectively with diverse student body

¨ Excellent organizational and time-management skills

¨ Good verbal and written communication skills

¨ Proficiency with Zoom

 

Training will be provided if needed.
