The Hmong Brighter Future (HBF) is a program created to support Hmong students, ages 6-13, in achieving academic resilience. Our goal is to create a supportive system of academic achievements and self-confidence by offering an atmosphere where Hmong students feel empowered to learn and express themselves. The program consists of in-person/virtual tutoring or child led activities for families.
We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to commit for at least 3 months and are needed to offer one-on-one mentoring, academic tutoring, and/or student led activities. HBF staff will provide level-appropriate resources to get volunteers started and will offer additional guidance as needed, but lesson content ultimately depends on the volunteer. No experience is needed and training will be provided. The schedule is arranged based on student and volunteer availability. Session will be held 1-2 times a week for 30 minutes a session, depending on student needs hours may increase.
Services in need of volunteer:
- Academic tutoring (in-person)
- Academic tutoring (virtual)
- In-home visits (child appropriate activities, developmental skills, and providing resources.)
- Virtual visits (child appropriate activities, developmental skills, and providing resources.)
