The annual Special Olympics District 6/7 Swim Meet will return on Saturday, April 30th at Waunakee High School. Athletes from across Southern Wisconsin will compete in swimming individual and relay events for a chance to advance to the State Celebration Games competition in July. We cannot execute this event without volunteer assistance – be a Difference Maker for Special Olympics Wisconsin!
There will be two shifts throughout the day with various positions. Volunteers that register for both shifts from 10:30am – 3:00pm will receive lunch.
- 10:30am – 1:00pm
- 12:30pm – 3:00pm
Available Volunteer Roles:
- Timer – Volunteers will time athletes in each event with a stopwatch in a specific lane and report the time to the recorder after each race.
- Athlete Staging/Escorts - Stagers will line up the athletes by division and lane and make sure they are on deck to start their heat. Stagers will also help athletes into the water if they need extra assistance. Escorts will keep the division together after each race and escort to the results area to receive their awards.
- Awards - Volunteers help process and present awards to athletes.
